The police have issued a fresh warning to potential buyers following two new cases of online car sale scams. The incidents occurred over the weekend of April 22, 2023, with one person losing $14,000 in a scam in Castries, while another individual, who had gone to meet a seller in the north of the island, was assaulted by armed individuals who stole his money.
Inspector Shervon Matthieu of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) provided the following advice to ensure safety when purchasing a vehicle from an unknown online seller:
